Last week's play date

I know I sent most of you this picture already, but I wanted to practice uploading a photo. Plus, some of you asked about the photo with 8 babies... Alexander hosted his first play date last Friday. The babies in the photo are 2.5 months, 4.5 months, 4 months, 2 months (Alexander), 4 months, 2 months, 1 month and 1 month. Most of the moms I met in my prenatal yoga class, and one is a woman David works with and one is a friend of a friend from my study abroad program in college. The babies ate, laid on the floor, slept and cried... and the moms ate cheese and drank wine! Everyone had a great time and hopefully we'll do it again soon.

2 months old

I'm trying out this blog thing because all of our friends and family are far away and we want to keep you posted about the highs and lows of life with Alexander. I hope you all like it!

Today we took the little guy in for his 2 month check-up... I can't believe it's been 2 months! Time really does fly. He continues to be a tall, skinny boy with a larger than average head. :-) Poor Alexander had to get 5 shots and a heel stick to check his bilirubin level again. The heel stick was the worst part because it takes so long to collect enough blood from his little foot, and he's kicking so much now so he fights it more. The shots were difficult but the nurse was very fast so it was over before we knew it. We thought he might have a rough time after the appointment, but he was smiling at Grandma (Nanny) in the car on the way home! Actually, he was very smiley all day today. For you medical people, his total bilirubin level went down to 9 point something (from 12.9 before), but his direct level went up a little (from 0.6 to 0.9). SoThe pediatrician isn't really worried about it, but he wants to ask a gastro-enterologist for his opinion since the direct level did go up. We should hear about that tomorrow. In the meantime, Alexander continues to look "tan."

OK, I need to get some sleep but I'll write more later.
